“It’s over 9000!” - Vegeta
Back again with another ranking system. Another one you have all been waiting for because I understand my opinion is the most important thing in this world and everyone relies on my expertise in such areas. All rankings are final and not up for debate in any way. Read it and weep. More brain candy coming your way. I think we can all use a little bit from time to time. This time we are going to be ranking energy drinks. “Oh, don’t you know how bad those are for you because..” shut up, I don’t want to hear it. Are they “good” for you? I don’t know. Maybe, no, sure, who knows. I do not need a double blind, randomized human control trial, insert scientific word, to know that I enjoy energy drinks. I really do not care if they’re optimal or “good” for my health. Not everything in life needs to be optimized for perfect health. Do I think it’s important? Yes. Do I also have an energy drink a day? Also, yes. So, here we are the Official-Unofficial ranking of energy drinks.
Reign Storm - First pick first round. Tough decision, but someone has to win
Monster - The closest second in ranking history. An OG.
1st Phorm Energy - Great blend of performance, lifestyle use, and flavors.
Gorilla Mind - Best overall performance
Alani Nu - Fantastic flavors only this low because of stiff competition at the top
Ghost - Best collaborations for flavors
Optimum nutrition - very underrated
Celcius - Middle of the pack but multifaceted use
Red Bull - Flavor is great, I don’t care what anyone says
Reign - Full diesel
C4 - Some decent flavors, arguably the most overrated on the market
“I think you’re addicted”
“Buddy, I’ve been drinking an energy drink every day for the last 10 years. It’s all I think about and I still haven’t gotten addicted so I doubt its happening”
Now, some of these energy drinks are better for different activities and this is where the rankings might seem a little convoluted. Stay with me now. There are two categories. 1. Performance: Think gym, running, or training. 2. Lifestyle: This is exactly what it sounds like. The list above is a combination of these two. The next ranking system will break down which I believe are best for Performance and Lifestyle. There may be some overlap, but will do my best to separate the two
Performance:
Gorilla Mind - This is only slightly edges out Storm. While I find myself grabbing Storm much more because of taste and price point is significantly better. This is the best overall for performance. The ingredient list is top tier and you get full efficacious dose of ingredients. The focus is unmatched.
Storm - Great size so it does not fill the stomach up with too much liquid. 200 mg of caffeine is a sweet spot for me. I do not enjoy having a ton, it fucks me a up a little bit. This is my go to for when I’m going to run or train. This is my go to, but Gorilla Mind is a better option. No real performance enhancers, but I do use these everyday which is why it is higher on the list.
Optimum Nutrition - Small size so it does not fill my stomach up. The caffeine is light at only about 100mg which is fine, because sometimes I train mid day and don’t need too much, but want a little boost. Great flavors and a decent ingredient list. When they’re available I grab them.
C4 - Honestly. I don’t believe this is as great as everyone make them out to be. From time to time I will grab one of these suckers because of the beta alanine. Is there enough to actually boost performance? Not even close. I just like the itch and the way it makes me feel.
Celcius - Small can and they say this is “the cleanest” energy drink. I really don’t even know what that even means and when someone promotes that I don’t think they even know what they’re talking about. Are there some performance enhancers in here? That’s what they say. Taste is mid, but from time to time I will grab one of these bad boys.
Lifestyle:
Monster - This is the Goat of lifestyle energy drinks. Honestly, this can make an argument to be number one overall. The only reason it is not is because I also use Storm outside of the gym, but would not grab a monster over Storm for the gym. Monster is one of the OG’s and deserves it’s respect. Road trip, before a night out, before the gym, (I respect it because I do it from time to time), before head into work, or any task this is the GOAT lifestyle
1st Phorm Energy - I’m not sure what category this belongs in, but lifestyle feels more correct. I use these for performance and lifestyle it’s the best fit for both. Flavors are elite.
Alani Nu - Small can, which again, I enjoy. Solid flavors. Now I have used these before the gym and still will. I just feel it belongs more in this category. The flavors are fantastic and always a tasty beverage when I need a little pick me up.
Ghost - These also can be used for the gym, I just don’t as much compared to the other ones. This is one is great because of the flavor collabs they have. I put them in this category because they can be a little too sweet and carbonated before I workout and it makes the tum tum a little sensi. They say it has performance ingredients in it to help in the gym, I just much prefer it as a drink I would grab for every day life.
Red Bull - You can make the argument this should be number two for lifestyle. I mean just look at their branding. I mean honestly it could even go into performance, I just don’t use it for that because there are much better options for that. I do love me a good Red Bull and there is just something about them I enjoy. I don’t drink full sugar drinks very often, but the full sugar is the best here. I do not care what anyone says these taste great. Red Bull is an OG
Reign - The reason is one is so low on both lists is honestly the caffeine. 300mg is just a little too much for the kid all at once. These are solid though when you need to rip a long road trip. Or need to really power through on low sleep.
If you’ve stayed this long, sweet. I appreciate you listening to my ramblings. Lastly, I will break down the top flavors for each drink and the worst. Feel free to agree or disagree.

Well, If you read this entire blog. You’re a trooper. Thank you for listening to my madness and ramblings. Once again, sometimes it’s nice to take a break from the heavy stuff and just binge out a little on some junk. Sometimes these can be the most fun things to write about. I truly do enjoy writing about self development (that term is kind of annoying), sharing personal stories, and providing value from my life lessons. These are also fun for me to nerd out on and just ramble away to the ether.
Sir how dare you besmirch the name of our most holy one… Monster Zero Ultra. The true GOAT. Shame sir, shame.
